viruses? do a online scan if you can

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/hous...start_corp.asp

if not likely hardware

take the lid off. make sure all your fans are spinning up.
thay get dust in em and whatever its cooling overheats.
if you gota go in touch the case first. to get rid of static build up in you. or you may cook something

if its the power supply dont open it just buy a new one
hight volts even when turned off. not worth it

Assuming that you're running Windows, it may be configured to reboot automatically whenever a crash occurs - a not infrequent event!
Did the problem start after installing new drivers, apps, etc?

a) scan for viruses
b) download spybot or adaware and scan for spy-ware.
c) determine what changed when the system started randomly shutting down.
d) replace the power supply.
