Upgrade to Assemblage DAC 3.0 - Page 2

Currently using a Sony DVD7000S as drive. I have tried at least two dusin other cd players and drives - but to be honest, still prefer the sound from the sony. I have however stopped using the Sony as DVD player long time ago.. Even if the picture is good, the age is clearly showing.
I should maybe mention that the reason I wanted to get 192/24 was that I am currently trying a Philips DVD963SA player.
BUT - last night I came to the conclusion that the sound from the 963 is not what it have been hyped up to be. (However the picture is worth killing for - so I may end up keeping it anyway.. or maybe I should try to mod my Rotel 1080 into giving a better picture?? Or just wait and buy something better later on???)

In terms of the change with 1794, then building a DAC from ground up is to complex and time consuming for me. So I guess I will leave it as it is, and hope that Paradigm can help me with a 3.1 input board..

You ought to be aware that the 3.1 uses the CS8414 and that will only get you 24/96.
Not sure why you want the '1794 anyway given that the '1704 is still current and the only real advantage the '1794 has is 192k at 8x.

Agree - but as I stated in one of my previous post's - I liked the PMD100 - and the 3.1 board have the PMD200 which is closer in sound AND gives me 24/96.

Just out of curiosity - can anybody recommend any cd transports out there that dont cost a gazilion dollar?
