Default Computers and sound

Please introduce me in digital-analog decoders.
Want to make a decoder from digital-to-analog for my 4.1 system. The signal i should use is the tigital output from my sound blaster. Anything simple enough for a begginer? Maybe a datasheet or something?

Respect.

well, I had this problem about one year ago and I have done my own dac to deal with it... I use a dir1704 spdif receiver and a WM8740 dac.
if the digital output from your soundcard is the same as my live5.1; it gives 3 spdif data streams on its outputs. it means you can use "normals" spdif dacs to convert the signal into analog. I noticed that the digital output from my soundcard (minijack) gives 3 digital (spdif) outputs:
-front right/front left
-surround right/surround left
-center/subwoofer

I hope it will help
