Hi,
Recently I implemented zero oversampling DAC. I used 1541A single crown (S1 ?) for that implementation. (I acquired that from local dealer hardly) And after built that, I exchanged single crown to double crown(S2?). the changing effects, as many people says, increased detail, open high area, softer.... the difference was so distinct. But, the problem is, although me and my friends feel the changing effect, the marking status of DAC chip is suspicious. This is picture of my 1541As... As you can see, the chip was produced at 1988 My friend (experienced DIYer) told me that the chip was so old that the marking process could be changed many times.... Does anybody knows truth ? |

I have seem your "S2" around, so I guess they are original. Mine's come from elib and dated 1997.
FYI, we like "S2" for some materials, and "S1" for others, so it is not so one-sided for us. Listening tests of TDA1541A vs S1 vs S2

pop11, Thanks for reply :-)
In my experience, my 1541A single crown and double crown showed us radically differenent performance. with double crown, the background was more clear. and built huge stage... but, character of my double crown looks like 'S1' more than 'S2' :-( we guess even if that was remarked, because that difference was huge, that is remarked from 'normal' and 's1' :-( |
