I am wondering about the existance of any diy firewire DAC project. Searching this site reveals very little hits.
There seems to be a TI link layer controller, TSB43DA42, which can be used in such a project, http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folder...sb43da42.html, which implements DTCP content protection. It does seem to require an external CPU or microcontroller to configure it though. SACD over firewire is possible, http://www-s.ti.com/sc/psheets/slla150/slla150.pdf . I haven't found any evaluation board for this controller, so I think setting up a project from scratch is a bit over my head..
