Hi,

is there a standard pinout for crystal oszillators ?

The small ones in metal case with 4 pins ...

Thanks, Bernhard

Yes, Pin 1 in the sharp corner, or marked with a dot...

11.289 MHz canned oscillators are not that hard to find. Less hassle and a higher chance for Erfolg.

This is the cheapest solution.

Costs me 1 EUR.

It was a 11MHz canned oszillator.

A naked crystal was mounted on springs.

Is the frequency accurate enough ?

The crystal is marked 11,2896.

I have others marked 1128,9600.

I will try that as clock in CD650.

Is the type you use a low jitter type ? Low jitter is far more important than 100 % exact frequency although it is very nice if it is 100 % accurate of course.

1 Euro is a low price but I would go for the best and spend 29 Euro for a real good one. Success guaranteed.

I'll save you stories about importance of power supply quality as the digital section nearly explodes of threads about that

Try it!

When testing a LC Audio XO, I found that I could hear changes of less than 10khz, (the XO is adjustable).

When changing frequency while playing music you'll hear that immediately or do you mean that slight deviation in static mode could be heard ?
