I have had my Sony NS500V for over a year with the intent of modifying it. I performed a search and read the Dorkus Mod thread for this unit. The thread seemed to approach theoretical ambitions rather than actual hands on mods and I just lost what was actually accomplished.
I have shorted out the 47 MFD ouput coupling cap which moderately increased the bass. The sonics of this Sony unit is lacking on Redbook compared to my recently tweaked $60 Toshiba 3950 DVD player. I would like to enhance the sound of my Sony unit. I know the power supply could benefit from some enhancements, and increased capacitance as power supply bypasses at the IC should help. Would those with proven tweaks to this unit or the sister units detail those tweaks. Thanks!
