sure is fake S1= 1 crown
S2= 2 crowns

As far as i know the double crown S1 is Dutch made, the double crown S2 is Taiwanese made...

I have both:
Philips TDA1541 S1 double crown:

Philips TDA1541 S2 double crown:

All silicom was produced here in Holland, in Nijmegen. The assembly of the TDA1541's took place in Taiwan, India, Nijmegen etc. The assembly took most hours of labour of producing the TDA1541

I bought 2 pieces of TDA1541A from eBay:

IC PHILIPS DIP-28 TDA1541A | eBay

At the photo, even though bad one, you can quite clearly see the right font used, but the ones I got are a different story...
I'm not going to risk my player and try them out, as they are obviously fakes of some sort.

Sent a complaint to the seller, waiting for response....

What is the outcome with this seller?

Hello everybody,
I usually don't hang around on public forums, but this thread caught my attention and I thought I'll stir a pot a little bit.
I've been modifying Philips chipset based players from the early 90's, long before it was in everyone's mouth and long before the internet boom (well, there was Compuserve back then). :)
Anyway, there have been a lot of speculation recently regarding unseen date codes, so I went and inspected what I have. Here are some pictures that might help some of you to identify what's what. All of my 1541 purchases were from Marantz service in Germany, except one batch of S2, which were bought from some Hi-End dealer in Hong Kong or Taiwan - I can't remember anymore.

First picture shows TDA1542S1 and SAA7220P/B from the last batch, remains of which is in the second picture. Note the HBH code! I think this should end the speculation about this particular code.
Check the original part number on the plastic bag that came from Marantz (third picture).
Fourth picture shows four 1541's that left from one batch that I bought from Marantz around ca' 1994-1995.
Fifth picture - original Philips "Selection Q" IC's from various Marantz 85/Philips 880 that were exchanged for S2 versions.
Sixt picture - S2 version from that Asian dealer mentioned above.
Seventh picture shows different S2 that was rescued from damaged Naim CD player. Previous owner glued heatsink to it, so when I removed it, parts of the print remained on heatsink. (You can rotate and mirror that image in Photoshop or similar to read the numbers).
Last picture is not that important - it only shows SAA7220's (also purchased in Germany), but, in case someone is worried about the fake ones, here it is, just FYI. Enjoy!
I hope I was able to help somehow.
