If one is replacing a CD player's laser assembly (e.g. Philips CDM or Sony KSS), might one need to tweak the Laser Power and/or Focus Adj. trimmer pots upon installation of the new laser?
That is ... if the CD player gives you problems after installation?

hi hollowman,
I have replaced many sony kss213C laser pick-up assemblies, and none need post installation interventions. On the other side, the original laser lasted like 8 years, and the replacing units were luckily to reach 2 years in duty.

You should always run through the alignment procedure after replacing a pickup, although it is true that many times a KSS type will be functional without. Laser power is the one thing that should not be adjusted on a KSS type as it is factory set.
