Replacing laser in teac vrsd transport-kss213c Can I use kss213b?

I have heard somewhere kss213b is more reliable than c but will it work reliabily in place of a kss213c in teac vrsd transport? I have kss213b in stock but have only heard of people replacing b with c which makes me wonder if it is lacking in some spec or maybe uses too much power.

I went ahead and replaced it since got no answers. Works great but don't think it sounds as good. The other one sounded awesome but would only play perfect discs. It would skip on the least scratch. The new one never skips even on bad scratches.

I ended up ordering a new 213C and it definitely sounded better than the 213B.

Pleased to hear you got your player working.

Definitive info on differences is hard to come by. I was told by Sony (many many years ago) that the differences between A and B types on KSS pickups was to do with susceptibility to shock and vibration. B versions were used in portable players and the like. I think the physical characteristics of the lens suspension was different in order to achieve that.

C versions... I don't know and there doesn't seem to be any reliable info out there.
