Just one more question.. aparently there should be a sensor somewhere to indicate the end of the end of the rail, could that be the cause of the fault?
Meantime motors for spinning the CD and moving the laser do not move anymore when i switch the player on and when insert a CD but the tray still opens and closes correctly

There is normally only a single sensor (microswitch) for detecting the rest position (inner position) of the pickup, not one for the outer end.

OK, so as you previousely said most probably the problem is not in the pick up block but in the electronics that drives it located in the pcb. I was hoping that changing the all mechanics (which should be quite easy) would solve the problem

You really should check all the supplies as I think we mentioned earlier. The service manual will show them all.
