Digital volume control

Is there some where some DIY project where has used some digital volume control.

Something else than this:
http://www.aaroncake.net/circuits/volume.htm

This would come my computer amp project which have four channels.

So it does not need to be of the best quality.

Check National's LM1036, LM1971, LM1972 and LM1973. Maxim/Dallas also have a lot like these.

Or check devices from TI (PGA23xx, PGA43xx), Crystal (CS3310) or Wolfson (WN8816 ?)
