Has anyone ever modified the NAD514 cd-player?
Clock modification, and DAC modifications. Or has someone a schematic of this particular cd player? It would be great. Thanks Nils |

Hello,
try www.schaltungsdienst.de or www.bergmann.de or any NAD service company. They sell service manuals for less than $/€ 10. Before you put an expensiove clock in, replace all electrolytic with faster (and maybe larger) ones, replace the filter caps with mica types, the opamps with better ones and reduce output impedance. This is cheap and does soooo much. Also, dampen the chassis. Cheers Christian.

I can send you the schematics of this player. Please give me the e-mail adress. I used to own this player and modded it a little bit. I put the clock, exchanged the electrolitycs.I also changed op-amps for BB OPA2134. This is MASH DAC.The player sound quite good but lacks smoothness of mutibit DAC's (PCM63 or TDA1541A). If you change op-amps be aware that some of the op-amps considered good might make this bright player much brighter. For example ,with OPA2604 is sounded dry and sharp like a razor. Very fatique.
