It is the same? A little bit different I suppose...

Sorry, this thread it (should) not discuss what someone it may do in his private life.
A patent, if it should occur, is not a private matter. I know nothing whatsoever about Joe's "private life", or the private lives of anyone else on here.

You've made a challenge and it has been responded to by Joe, if not to your satisfaction. This is frequently the case for most discussions around subjective sound quality, whether tubes versus transistors, high feedback versus low feedback, etc, etc. Should you not be satisfied with Joe's response, you are free to say so, and just as free to not waste any more of your time. Instead, you persist.
But this discussion is not about subjective sound quality. It is about what real physical effect a capacitor has on a circuit. I, and others, persist because Joe's followers persist in accusing us of various failings: failure to experiment (no need, as circuit theory is well established), calling Joe a liar (we have not - we have never questioned his honesty), to name but two.

You keep alluding to Joe claiming to have discovered some flaw in circuit theory, so here's my challenge to you. Please provide the quote where Joe claims this. I'll wait.
Joe has claimed all along that this additional cap works in a way which is not a filter. He has said that adding a filter later on produces a different result. He suspects some subtle interaction between the cap and the DAC output stage, despite the wide variety of DAC output stage topologies which this cap is alleged to improve.

This thread is not about one or another individuals, but about a capacitor of some sort connected as presented, its particularities as a filtering device, and its impact over the signal.
Can we please focus the discussion strictly on subject?
Yes, we would love to do that but the followers keep dragging in other issues. Joe has shown more wisdom than them, by largely remaining silent.

Review of Alternative Post-DAC Filtering:

Review of Alternative Post-DAC Filtering:

This guy have the post-DAC filter fitted and I have just received his email, so this is effectively a user review of the topic discussed here:

Got it Friday, Monday eve now. I have been listening to it over the weekend and I am very impressed and how it now sounds.

I listened to all sorts of music. Rock, Classical, Jazz both on SACD and CD.

I can now hear things that I never heard before on some tracks also I feel the imaging of instruments has improved also. One example was Jessica Williams, a very fine Jazz pianist. The piano sounded that it was right in the room with me!!!!

To my amazement I thought I was listening to an SACD but in fact it was a CD, the sound was so good.

Thanks again for the upgrade.

Regards

Tony M

Don't you just hate that? 🙄

Is the level of distrust in this world reached this sad level? Did I hypnotise this guy, did I con him? To some of you it seems that is your conclusion. Isn't that rather sad? But Tony M is actually very happy - it was very cheap to do, so where is the con?

Terry hasn't been here for years, maybe he could come over and report here - I know he will be surprised, but it will be his report, his words, and Terry I know does not take dictation. 🙂

And Terry, talk to Clay Giseler, he is so convinced he is using it in his Klein DAC, so is Michael Lenehan and Tony Wong. These guys were telling us for years that delta-sigma DACs don't cut it and now are saying they realise that they can actually sound better than ladder DACs. So, if you don't trust me, get in touch with those guys. They are not imagining things.

Cheers, Joe

so someone posted the unit so was without it for some days? It came back 'upgraded' and he said it sounded better? Just checking.

Yes, I know where this is going. Tony can't be believed. Like I said, very sad.

Has the world really become this distrustful?

It seems you have the ability to put this to the test yourself. It's cheap, it's simple, where is the con?

So, still no data, just anecdotes to promote yourself and your business. Is there anyone peddling quack nostrums who doesn't have testimonials?

You're better than that, Joe. Man up and put your hypothesis to the test. Don't fear the possibility that it might have to be discarded- that's what "open-mindedness" means. That's the essence of intellectual integrity.

Given aural memory, no his testimony can't be trusted. Not sad, just how it is.

I cannot put this to the test as I don't have a suitable pair of DACs. If the ODAC was suitable a pair of those would be affordable and suitable to post around to various people as a pair of sealed boxes, which would be fun.
