Hi all,
i own a Marantz CD 17. i bought it second hand with some modifications of Cīs etc. Optical unit is replaced. I am not sure if this cd player reads CDrs reliable? some i have burned are going well, other not. The CD stops then if i skip a track and stops. Sometimes if i press stop or a cd has finished it makes a strange noise, like the cd was stopped to fast and is gliding ! any infos would be very helpful. thanks junoman23 |

I have CD17 (mk1)
Never had any problems with CDR. I recently replaced the laser. It now has major problems with the new 'copy protected' CD's: wont even recognise them. To play a copy protected CD I have have to make a copy to CDR which it plays without problems.

Sorry I cant remeber the part number. It was a standard Phillips
part. The laser assembly was replaced (you have to buy the whole unit) Its easy to do, no adjustments to make etc. My CD will not ( and has never) played CDRW. Have you tried a differnet brand?? Are you burning then 'disk at once' or 'track at once' ???

hi steverb,
i can use any brand of CDrs without problem, if i burn it in my shitty Aopen burner, also at 8 times. itīs just if other people bring their cdrs, also if they burned them in 2 x speed ! strange. maybe i have to check the laser unit RF eye pattern.. thanks andreas |
