I want to check whether the laser output is nearing the end of its life, how do I do this. I have oscilloscope etc. Its working ok but I want to check this before sending abroad to a freind.

Colin,
To check the laser you need a laser power meter. The Teac uses a Sony pick up, look at the lens and see if it is sagging a quick check is sometimes the player works better upside down this is assuming that you have a problem. The other main problem is the lens grating is out of wack which there is no cure for except replacing the pickup. If it works it is best to leave it alone Regards, Jam P.S. Lubricating tte rails on which the pickup rides on might be a good idea. |
