Default Sony ES cd player

I have the Sony X7ESD. Would a replacement of the stock power cord and main fuse makes improvement ? Or, the stock stuffs are good enough already.

The stock stuff is just fine, no objective justification for changing either. I expect you will get more than a few responses to this question.. Good luck!

Gold plating does miracles to the sound. Or the ''lampizator'' snip it and bypass it.

After gold plating the cd player, the mod is to snip and cut useless parts of the circuit until the noise is gone, then you reach nirvana.

To put the jokes aside, I bought a esdx7 and the circuit is extremely complex and can't be changed. Fuses must stay there as well as the power cord.

That is a very old CD player, and even with its reputation there are probably modern DACs that could improve the sound. I would consider using the toslink output (no coax I assume) to connect to a high quality (and price!) DAC of your choosing. The power cord tweak is a load of bull$&8t!!!

Audio Synthesis used to use a Sony ES player as the basis for their transport. I spoke to them when I built my dac and they recommended I buy a Sony ES and use the Digital co-ax to feed my DAC.
Very nice transport, shame about the non availability of replacement lasers.

I indeed use the X7ESD as transport to an vintage DAC(PCM63P) via co-ax. Very high resolution. But, when compare to Philips CD 304 (cdm-1) as transport same setup,it leaps behind by a big margin in the aspect of engaging. The KSS-190A in X7ESD supposed to be Sony's best laser pickup. That's why I figure if a simple change in fuse and/or power cord can improve or not.

Surprising. I've never had the chance to compare the two, but both are very good transports.

sony cdp-337esd

Also see his comments in CD 104 philips TDA

Might be worth a try if you like the valve sound or maybe a Zapfilter.

The laser is kaput in mine so I can't do anything with it. It's still got the 1541 chips in it and some other good components.
Plus the case is truly well made. Seems a shame really.
