Question Comparison CS4428 / AK4356

Hello to everyone!

I just built up an ADAT-to-analog-converter and tried several DACs in the circuit. I was extremely amazed about the difference in sound, especially the noise level differences between the CS4228 and the AK4356. The AK4356 seems to be much better.
And, last but not least, the AK4356 doesn't get as hot as the CS4228. So, I have several questions:

-Is this behaviour normal?
-has someone made similar experiences ?
-can someone recommend me a good LPF design for the output stage?
-and, as I'm a Newbie in designing DACs, whats the reason for using the built-in De-emphasis on the DACs?

Any hints would be appreciated!

Greetings from Germany

I can help you with one part - the de-emphasis. You only need that if the music you're playing was recorded with pre-emphasis. If the music sounds like there's too much treble, it could be because it was recorded with pre-emphasis.
