Better TDA1540P?

Hello everybody,

I am new to this forum. I am using a stock Philips CD player which is using CDM1 (or CDM0) drive and two TDA1540P. As I know that there are single crown version (S1) and double crown version (S2) to the stereo DAC TDA1541A, would there be any crown or better versions of TDA1540P? If yes, where can I locate two or four of them?

Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Hi Snoopyma,

as far as I know the tda1540P were not graded.The older tda1540D sounds slightly better.

Snoopyma,

even if you would find some new tda1540D, I doubt that the difference will be worth the trouble.Probably smarter to collect as many parts as possible and buy a manual,so you can rebuild it when it breaks down.Which type do you have?

Thank you for your reply. I am just thinking of upgrading the TDA1540P, if any, to improve my stock Philips CD player (just like upgrading the TDA1541A S1 to S2 in my Studer player).
