Can I use this as a splitter for S/PDIF.
The primary is 7 turns, the sec, is 2x5 turns. This is originaly ment for 1in and 2 out, but I want to use it as 2 in and 1 out. Is this possible? |

But who knows? Hard to say without knowing its frequency characteristics.
But.....my guess is it will sound like dreck even if it does work. Here......make a resistive splitter. Will work much better. Take 3 25R resistors. Make a "Y" with them. Looks like 75 ohms in each direction, and most frequencies. Any terminal can be a "goes into" or a "goes out of". You will lose 6 dB in the process. Jocko |

it should work, I used the same arrangement in the past and it did, but the impedence will not match the required 75 ohm... so results are not high quality, for sure. I read that you want to use it as 2 in and 1 out: in many cases an idle cd player goes on outputting a SPDIF regular (but zeroed) stream, so that you normally cannot use such an arrangement without some kind of input selector, unless you are availabble toi switch all the other units off; and in this case you are not sure which is the ipedence shown to the connector by the switched off unit.... The Jocko solution seems at least solve the impedence issues, even though all teh other problems named before are still present, and moreover the output level could be not enough to drive the receiver correctly....
