@Algar_emi:

You can't use Dark Side Of The Moon (SACD) as a reference cos the mix is very bad.

Default Some SACDs

Hi,

Here are a few SACDs I enjoy.

Yo-Yo Ma/ Edgar Meyer/Mark O'Connor APPALACHIAN JOURNEY
(Sony Classical) Natural sounding string instruments and voices.

James Taylor OCTOBER ROAD (Columbia) Warm, good band sound with voice a bit rough and forward. One spectacular cut Belfast to Boston.

Chick Corea RENDEZVOUS IN NEW YORK (Stretch Records) Good jazz club atmosphere and good studio recording. Excellent piano.
Fabulous jazz.

The Coronation of King George II (Hyperion) Very Regal, marches and outdoor ambience, crowds, cannons, etc.

One DVD Audio. Buena Vista Social Club (Nonesuch)
This is a famous Cd redone in Hirez and it is superb for the musicianship and reverberant sonics.

OK?

N.

Your plan for the mods is very comprehensive. I can't wait for the reports. I'm particulary interested in the completely new power supply to replace the switching one.

Default output transformer

I saw interesting post on audioasylum http://www.audioasylum.com/scripts/t...tweaks&m=99013
Which transformer I could use for mods?
Any one could recommend specific part number or model?
Vlad

Default First Step-Vibration

Here the vibration of the frame taking care of. I used multiple layers of bitumen style sheet and polyethane glue to fill the multiples grooves of the frame. Before it was ringing like a bell. Now it is dead

Default Mods Update Question

Hello,

In addition to the capacitor upgrade, did you make any other changes to the smps? Rectifier diodes for example.

I see that you used copper foil to cover different parts. Did you ground the foil?

The extensive damping looks neat. I plan to do the same but to the bottom on the outside and then bolt the chassis to a platform of some thick, heavy material. I can't decide on an mdf/sorbothane/mdf sandwich , or go for real mass with a piece of damped granite or marble. I would welcome suggestions!

One more question. I see that you removed everything from the chassis to do your damping. Did you undo the flex foil connections? If you did, can you explain how to take them off, short of unsoldering everything? I don't have any experience with this type of wiring harness.

Thanks for keeping us up to date.

Nic.
