Default Output circuit

The output circuit I used is a combination of a lot of other people's work. Ben Duncan for the relay muting circuit (Hi-Fi News and Record Review, Nov1987) , Paul Marchese in Audio Amateur 2, 1990 for the Fet Lt1010 output buffer/offset trim, and of course the Texas Instrument DSD1791 spec sheet pg 30.

The image looked too small. Maybe this will be better if it's accepted. N.

Default ooops

I can't seem to load a viewable image. I'll email it to interested parties.

Frustrated old Nic.

Default Output Muting

A suggestion for the muting, no relay click and response time.

Use the Analog Device Quad SPDT Switches. The turn On resistance is less than 35 ohms. You can get free sample from www.analog.com

Just put the switch in serie and add the needed logic to get the switch open when muting.

I will probably use that in my own 563A

Bye...

By the way, this Switch is used at the input of my Mark Levinson
ML38 Preamp. I has to be good to be in this great preamp.

Default ADG 411 switch

Hello Algar_emi,

Why don't you post a schematic of the logic and the pick-off point on the Pioneer so we can judge better how to use the device?

Also, why does this switch have to be in series with the signal, when all you want to do is mute the output to ground?

Please advise.

N.

Default Muting

We want to remove all resistors from the output. To short to gnd the output, we need to let one resistor in serie with the output, then ground the output to mute.

I taught that by opening the output with the switch, that will mute the sound and there will be only the switch small resistor in serie with the output.

I just bought a 563A and I ordered the ADG411. I will try to use it this week. I may also use a 75R resistor in serie and short it to gnd if the switch open trick doesn't give good result.

I'll try to post a schematic soon.

Bye...

Hi,

Your plan makes sense - it is always good to try an idea in a practical way before deciding on a final course of action.

The relay I am using does make an audible click when the disk stops, starts or searches for a track. If you can get a quiet, sonically neutral solution, I would try to implement it too.

Go for it.

By the way, your site is neat.

N.

Default Starting my upgrade

Hi. I will start to modify my 563A tomorrow. I listen to the original 563A and was not impressed at all. I have a Copland 277 CD player used as transport and the SuperDAC low jitter from Guido Tent, with tube output, just great.

The 563A in CD is everything that a bad CD is, no timing, harsh treble, not great bass. The SACD (I used Dark Side of the Moon) section is better but not reaching the sound of my reference system.

I'm going for the full thing: new analog supply and separate new digital supplies. Replacement of all the caps as listen previously. All Panasonic FC and some Black Gate for the original op-amp section.

I will use soft recovery diodes for the +/12V audio supply. I will upgrade the existing L-R output to OPA2604 and build the new separate LT section, without coupling caps.

I can't wait to hear the difference.

Default Audio Analog Supply

And I was forgetting. I will use Jung SuperReg for the Analog +-12V.

Bye...
