Default SL-P1200B schematics

Hi there - Andy here. First post to the site, so about me. I run the Automotive part of an EMC test house business, and came to that via a certain Brit audio manufacturer and the Defence industry. Now the audio is done in my workshop, or in the labs at work when no-one's looking! I either design / build purely for myself, or refurb old, but quality audio kit. The latest is what I could do with help with! See below.

I've been able to find schematics for the SLP-1200, but not the 'B' variant, which is quite a different animal. It has the larger displays, the rotary pitch control and 'fader start' switch.

It arrived on the bench as 'dead' - which it wasn't, it was just playing dead with no displays or function. However, +/-12V and some other supplies were present, but +5V was down. A regulator and pcb fuse sorted the +5v, and brought back the displays and most switching function LEDs, but the player still refuses to - well... play! (or indeed drive the transport in any way at all)

I expect the event which took out the pcb fuse and regulator is probably the one I'm looking for, but without the correct diagrams I'm still flying blind.

I'd like to sort this out as she's a beauty, so if anyone can furnish me with diagrams I'd be eternally grateful!

I have never heard of the "B" type. I have manuals for the "K" type only.

You might try comparing schematics of the SL-P1300, if you can find them. I've worked on P1200's & P1300's, but never heard of a P1200B, either. Usual cause, at least ten or so years ago, for no-drive-ops, on these machines was improper operation of the door close sensing switch, a very simple thing. Can't recall the specifics of it, but seem to remember it being a bit fiddly to get working quite right if it was not. At this age, though, it's liable to be, or also be, cascade failure of all of the Matsushita/Panasonic electrolytic caps, which won't appear bad at all until you remove them from the board & find a white chemical leakage residue around one or both leads as each exits the cap body. You may have a whole lot of caps to replace.

Incidentally, here's a completed listing from eBay for a 'B'. Externally, it differs quite a lot from the others (and the SL1300 sadly)
