This is a very different player to the original Alpha which is a TDA1451A player, the "One" uses the PCM1710U DAC and a KSS240A transport with CXD2500BQ decoder. These were the cheapest Arcam player when new (I believe the Alpha 7 - non SE - is the same player) and are available for very little cost now.

Has anyone done any expensive modding to these? They use the same DAC as the Rega planet which is well regarded, however the One uses 2114D op-amps for the output stage. I plan to upgrade all regulators (currently 6x 317/337) and re-clock. I have found a reference to a diode mod for the 1710 DAC but don't know what it is yet.

I don't know the Arcam, bit I'd go the usual route:

- separate PSUs
- larger and low ESR PSU caps
- fast soft recovery diodes / Schottkys
- better opamps
- better decoupling caps (Oscon for digital, Pana FC/Silmic/Rubicon for analog)
- better filter caps (film-foil, Wima FKP2 and FKP3)
- mute transistor delete
- clock

I did most of these on my NAD522 which has the same PCM1710.
