Cheap DVD players with Wolfson DACs?

Anyone know of any in the UK? Seems a logical choice for a cheap vehicle for upgrade potential.

Not sure of your definition of "cheap", but maybe you should look around for an H/K DVD-21 ?

there in UK the dvp520 by Philips could be an 50/60 pounds option: here in Argentina Philips sells the same model , -identical from the outside except the model number: dvp530-.
I have one and inside I discovered a Wolfson wm8761 24/192 da converter. It´s a minuscule smd chip with 14 pins.
Check out, but beware: mine has an annoying tendency to distort in loud passages of cds, maybe because of poor analog output stage .

It is most likely to be due to some Signal Processing in the Digital Domain. Check out the surround modes and EQ modes, switch them off.
I do not like this model, but the 720SA is a good tool for an upgrade, although it have pitfalls also.

Marquant DVD-333K. Sounds quite good for the money.
