DVP-S 9000 ES How is possible?

How is possible that only changing one cristal of 27Mhz for another of 27Mhz of 1ppm, in the video output the image is Black/White but in the RGB output it is in colour but appear one red line oscilating
in the screen.
The same case in another Pioneer DVD the video output is in Black/White but in this case the RGB is OK.

I Don´t undestand it?

Can any Guys help me?

Talk about learning "the hard way". Does it still work with the old crystal?
Is the new x-tal a drop in replacement?
Only 3 things come to mind: different freq., jitter, phase shift.
