Default Rubber belt slippage solution

Anybody knows the stop gap solution (or longer than that ) to stop old CD drawer belt infrequent slippage . The belt is rectangular in shape. I try to avoid laborious diss assembly of mechanism and pulling all those tethered plastic wheels as long as possible. I cleaned the belt and plastic pulley with alcohol but it didn't help much. Maybe some other treatment to help the belt to grip more .
TIA , L

Sounds like its to far gone tbh

With any square belt its worth rotating it "inside out" so the unused surfaces contact the pulleys.

Simple answer... fit a new one

Yeah , I was afraid the answer will be the new one. I will need to sober up for a week and calm shaking hands. I happen to like Sony X707ES as a transport so I don't want to f..ck it up as it happens with pretty much anything I touch lately
Thanks !
