Philips CD-101 static noise in one channel while playing

Hi!

My CD-101 started to make constant static noise in the left channel while it plays. No noise while not playing.

I wonder if it is the resistor mute switch going kapook? Or something else?

My first suspicion would be a bad TDA1540 dac chip on the channel. Could theoretically be a dying cap in the area or cold solder joints causing it, though.
