hes obviously measuring the output of the dac module directly from one side to ground and getting the correct and expected DC voltage AVCC/2 and hasnt got an IV stage. was this really unexpected luigi? if so, i'm not sure you picked the right dac to build. its in the manual, thats what IV stages are for, there are many ways to get rid of it

Default thanks

hi, thanks for your answer ,

my idea was to not use any active output should go well with the transformer (30k/30kohm) input to the my preamplifier
but the sound is not 'so good as hoped, then I think that both the dc offset that creates the transformer saturation or not a good fit with 784 ohm output impedence of the transformer dac with 30 k-30k
I do not know?
I'm trying to understand ...

Doesn't the ES9018 have differential voltage outputs? I have an older model ES chip and it does. I use a transformer on its outputs and it works just fine. DC is blocked by the transformer. As the DC is common to the + and - outputs, the transformer primary actually sees no DC current.

This is typical of most voltage out DAC chips.

I use whatever I'm in the mood for.

Jensen, Cinemag, Peerless, Onectics, Edcor, Sowter. They all work, they all sound different. Any 1:1 will work OK. Or you can use a slight step up, like 1:1.4 or 1:2. They work well too. Load the secondary with about 3.3K in parallel to make the chip output happy. Somewhat higher if you use a step up.

Thank for your answer,
but the dc offset 1,7 volt for buffalo dac not damage the transformer ?
it causes the transformer saturation ?

thanks luigi
