I've got Microsoft sync in my car, and thought it would make the perfect headless ( no monitor/ mouse / keyboard) media server.
Sync responds to voice commands like - "play artist...", ”play song...", etc...
Now, I'm not aware of any open source software that would function the same... But it may exist.
Setting up a Linux distro to run a webserver / voice activated media server connected to a usb dac/ hard drive would be neat.
Any suggestions?

Actually, something like this...
Voice Remote Control for Windows Media Center | Amulet Devices without the display... Just a 2 line lcd display would be sufficient.
