I2s Usage With DIY DACs

In addition to my own curiosity, I have received several questions dealing with the use and benefits of hard wiring I2S to chips on various DAC designs. I don't have those answers, so this thread is intended as a catch-all for reporting successful implementations including photos, diagrams and dialog.

There are of course discrete retail solutions for this which may be a better/safer approach. That information would also be welcomed in helping DAC builders make the correct decision on which path to take.

My experience has been with the Mini2496 design, so I will start by requesting someone who has had some success with I2S and the MIni to start the ball rolling. Implementation on any other DAC design, to get the thread going, is equally welcomed.

ok, here is some clearification of connecting AK4396 and teralink x2:
