Optical/SP-DIF output for Alpine CDE-W235BT (Toshiba TC94A92FG)

Hi, I've just bought this cheapo head unit and I am going to use it in combination with a secondary optical source (media player) in my center glove compartment for a mixture of "everyday use" head unit (the Alpine CDE-W235BT) and my own personal sound quality setup using a media player.

I would like to figure out how to mate a coaxial digital output to this head unit so that I can continue along with the plan of having a DAC in the boot of my car and being able to switch between both the handheld unit and the alpine head unit for "everyday" use.

I've googled my butt off and found this document detailing a schematic diagram for the cheapie Toshiba TC94A92FG, the schematic is located on page 4: http://jvckenwood.com.au/jvcfiles/RV-NB50SCH.pdf

Could someone please tell me how to mate what I am assuming the digital output (pins 54-60) to an optical diode, OR could someone tell me where the proper digital output pins are, as I am not entirely sure this is the correct spot for I2S-SP/DIF output from the TC94A92FG. I am going upon the assumption that this chip DOES have digital output from this website: CD/MP3 Processors and MCUs with USB Host Controller?Car Infotainment ICs?TOSHIBA Semiconductor & Storage Products Company

Which says that it does in the text below (Audio input and output).

here is an interior solder side photo of the deck, as you can see the bottom side is completely bare and there is nearly an entire 1 din of free space with a completely flat back panel to work with optical/coax connectors and other niceties.

The two Toshiba IC's are ontop, removing all remaining screws from the PCB (4 of them) and bending the two front solder tabs (which don't have any solder on mine) away, then removing the two data cables from the cdrom drive will allow you to remove the PCB and expose the top surface.

My loss is your gain in a way, if I or someone else can figure out how to get optical output from the DAC then someone else could buy one of these and modify it, and other b/new alpine head units.

Also if anyone could tell me how to reset this (shorting every RST pin to ground doesn't help), it appears that I cannot get it out of Updating mode, no matter what I do, so either I wait for the US alpine corporation to release a bluetooth firmware or I figure out someway to reset it from here...

it's not about Bluetooth its a ageneral FW update with some bur fixes. How about to try it? Maybe it helps to return the unit to life.
 
Already tried that as soon as I accidentally put it into updating mode, I can't get it out of updating mode and it throws "Updating Failed" when I try to use that european firmware.

Alpine is at fault here, they shouldn't have made it go into a continuious loop when you put it into updating mode, warranty repair isn't an option as I'm in Australia and it would be cost prohibitive to ship it back to the US.

So I'm going to just wait it out until Alpine USA makes a new firmware for it.

Updating mode in and of itself isn't damaging or dangerous to the unit, so forcing it into a continuious loop is just idiotic.

Unless someone can edit the european firmware and trick my unit into thinking that its accepting US firmware?
