DIFFERENTIAL FROM DAC TO SPEAKERS
I am about to try a fully balanced configuration from dual differential dacs (two 1541a but not dac / channel) via a pair of Sowter 9545 transformers and pair of LM4780 chipamps (dual LM3886 in one package) as per the attached sketch. (sorry for the quality)
The Dac offsetis rendered irrelevant by connecting the primary as shown but I cannot avoid the IV resistors due to the DAC output only sourcing current not sinking and sourcing it as it would do if the current varied about 0v. I only need a small volume adjustment so intend to vary the amp gain a little. Comments? IanB PS I've been using it for 12months but with the secondaries in series and connected to a Quad 34/405 and the sound is superior to a Musical Fidelty Xray+ Xdac. (the TDA1541s are run NOS mode) |

seems like you're on the right, high end minimalist approach track.... there are silver-wound, multi-tapped transformers used in high end preamps...
