I'm some what newbish to the hifi home audio world and had a few questions that i'm hoping someone can answer. I can do car audio with my eyes closed and hands tied behind my back but I think I may be taking too much of a car audio approach to this. I see a lot of guys running a good cd transport and good external DAC. Is that because there are just no good cd players with good built in DAC's? What do you do for EQ and crossover adjustments. I've been looking at the miniDSP stuff and think that might be a good option for me but I'm wondering if that's a bad idea. I haven't seen a lot of home audio guys using it. I figured that way it will take care of my DAC, EQ and crossover all in one. I'm using an old school sony es c77es cd player and right now it's going into a Harman Kardon HK3490 receiver. I'm thinking of just bypassing the receiver and going cd player to dsp then to amps. If I went from cd player into receiver then out to dsp and amps will that hurt any audio signal from the cd player by going throught the receiver?
