Technics CD player mods?
Hi, new to the forum but looking for some good advice. I have a Technics SLPG590 which I have had from new. It's feeding a Creek CAS 4140S2 and MS Festival 2 speakers. Fairly vintage stuff. I have recently bought a Beresford Caiman DAC and feed that via the optical out on the Technics which I have to say gets the feet tapping!
Being the perfectionist on a budget, I COULD buy a second hand Sony or Pioneer in the £100 market for their supposedly superior transports to feed the Caiman.
Or, would it be worth spending the equivalent on mods for the Technics?
I used to run an electronics factory making high end HMI's so know nothing (seriously!) about electronics design but have a friend who was a technician there who does and can solder!
My question(s) are:
say for my £100 is it worth modding the Technics?
what about a separate PSU? Is there a design for one we can make?
The transport section - is there any of the caps etc that need upgrading?
Let the theories flow!
Many thanks, Lol
