Alternatives to iPod + Pure i-20 as a digital source

Hi everyone,

I do most of my listening at work and have the following setup ready to receive a digital signal:

iPod Classic 120
[...missing link...Pure i-20...]
AMB Gamma2 Full++ DAC
o2 Amp

Having the remote that comes with the Pure i-20 would be a nice bonus (assuming it works well), I'm just wondering what other options I have as far as getting a digital signal to my DAC. I'd like to get away from Apple products and buying a new Pure i-20 is taking a step in the wrong direction...

Assuming I sell my iPod for ~$130 and have the $100 I would have spent on the i-20, what would you do with $200-$300 to accomplish this? Are there devices like the Pure i-20 that would work with non-Apple mp3 players? My DAC accepts USB and coax/optical s/pdif signals.

It has coax/optical s/pdif outputs as well as an analog output

What files runs your iPod Classic? AAc, mp3 - Lossy compressed probably (just AIFF and wav are lossless in Apple world)?
In this case, don't worry about DAC and amps...

If you feel like experimenting, any android device can run flac files - de-facto lossless standard. In Android 3.1 is even native format...
