For those who long for a Shigaclone..........

Having flirted with the Shigaclone and decided it was not for me, or it decided after a leg breakage following cap swapping, I have looked for another transport.
I bumped into a modding article based on the Philips Cd940.
Last of the swing arm transports, this looked promising.
I read the article and the more I read the more it seemed to make sense.
They are below, please have a look and see what you think.

I managed to win a cd940 for £12, but if it takes your fancy there are 3 cd 930's on ebay going cheap. 2 days to go, (identical to the 940, just not made in Belgium).

Hi, plugged the cd940 in and there's an immediate sense of clarity compared to my standard Marantz cd63, both played through a chinese DAC.
Sounds very promising. Looks better too.

Oscon sepc's ordered.

Is it CDM-9?

I've not done anything with mine yet, but Apple PowerCDs are interesting for a similar project. CDM-9 mech but also with a SCSI connection so you can rip data directly.

yes, that was the attraction,good reliable transport used in a lot of top transports.
