any of these will give you the schema for SPDIF out on the 7220.....CD50 is probably easiest. Failing that, there will always be the SAA7220p datasheet.

Thanks for reply
Yes had a 304 MK2 but sold it. Now playing downstairs with a CD880 Want a 2nd machine with the rock solid CDM1. Thought it over: easyest way is to add a SAA7210 on the HF output with a RAM and sent I2S to a PCM... chip wich converts it to music and Spdif Don't know if the CDM likes 2 decoders on its tail...

not sure you really want 2 decoders or even it it would work. My mistake, I read quickly and read 7020 as 7220...sorry ;(
Not sure this is what you want to hear but......... SPDIF Output from SAA7020, SAA7000

SAA7210, like all the CD decoders, needs to control the spindle motor speed to recover the data. It is a electro-mechanical PLL loop that tries to keep the 16KB buffer half-full.
It would not work without that motor control connection. Last edited by SoNic_real_one; 16th January 2012 at 03:01 PM. |
