Ok here is the situation.
I live in New Zealand. I rebuilt my ex DAC, a DDDAC 1543 60 chip (DDDAC) for a friend who lives in Georgia. It was packed up and sent by courier, but got bashed up along the way. The damage is not too bad - the two filter caps that were held in with clamps had both come out, and the tagstrip that wired them together has broken. Also the output coupling caps, which were glued to the backpanel have come off, and the wiring to them broken. Now my friend is not DIYer at all. He can't solder. It looks from the pics I've seen that the fix is not too hard. The PSU that's broken is a simple transformer - bridge rectifier - pair of smoothing caps with some low value resistors in between the caps. I'm looking for anyone who might be willing to give it a go fixing this. At the moment my friend is exploring claims for damages against the Post Office. But I reckon they won't want the DAC back. Please PM me if you think you can help. Thanks bob
