Hi people, I currently have the following setup: two JLH80 watt monoblock amplifiers, a JLH preamp in custom box, Adire Audio Kit281 loudspeakers, custom made interconnects and a MPDAC-III. Now I'm looking for a good quality (not too expensive) CD transport. Any recommendations?
Thanks for your time. Nick |

Hi,
You could try www.steinmusic.de who has a cdm-12 and if you want, an upgrade. CD-PRO2 is about double in price compared to the cdm-12. Stein compares his cdm-12 with a player like the Marant 63/67. You might also consider buying a second hand. Regards, Jan |

Thanks for the info Jan. I checked out the website, looks like they're going to produce something along the lines I'm looking for (transport with SPDIF output). It's kind of surprising that they're aren't more build it yourself 'kits' for CD players out there...I'd certainly consider buying one.

Hi Nick,
Steins website is not quite up to date but he still sells most of the stuff shown on his site. All versions of the CDM-12 en CDX -3 are still available. Maybe you want to look at these site's... Translation from Japanese into something most of us can read... http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/tr And for the interesting parts: http://www.ne.jp/asahi/sound.system/...t/cdmbase.html http://www3.ocn.ne.jp/~tima/products.../cdpindex.html http://babelfish.altavista.com/babel...HP%2Findex.htm Talking about kits: http://www.audiokit.it/ENG/Frames/Introduction1.htm Or a little more expensive: http://www.daisy-laser.nl/homeoptics/ http://www.tnt-audio.com/sorgenti/armoniacd1_e.html A nice case for the CD-PRO@ can be bought here: http://www.acoustic-dimension.com/ (see under diy and than kits...) I think I'm going to buy a CDM from Stein and convert it into a toploader like on the Japanese sites. But first I have to finish the enclosures for my Aleph 5's. Have fun reading Japanese translations Jan |
