Hi , I use to have a 640c and sold it due to becoming poor rapidly. I really did like it back then. Now I have more funds I was wondering if it worth buying another 640 c ? I have a Dac Magic and thought I could output the sound through that. I’m trying to minimise my expenditure yet not compromise on quality but I need to reach a balance between both. Will I gain a lot by buying the 650c or will the Dac Magic /640 c be as good or near?
BTW the 640c is over 60% cheaper second hand than the 650c. |

I bought a 2nd hand 640c off ebay for £110 plus 10% goes to "help for heros", anyway from other posts it seems the Magic and 640c use the same Dac's but the 650c uses the Magic's upsampling.. so i save £250 as the Magic will use it's upsampler .. also i can use the £250 to mod the Magic.. which I use for my HTPC and DaB so all good ..

650C does not have the upsampling.
740C and 840C do. |
