Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone had come across a way to get audio playback from an iPod/iPhone via USB? I know it can be done, all the car stereos have a USB port and connecting one somehow gets the digital audio from the iPod to the stereo with text and shared controls. Does anyone know what IC they use to do this? It is probably more complicated than its worth to set up, but sometimes I have seen "complicated" things come in a 16pin DIP with minimal external components... The idea was to connect via USB and charge/play music digitally without using the line out of the iPod. Thanks in advance for any info..

its all fully under license; there is no easy way to enable usb audio transfer. with the iPad you can simply buy the camera connection kit from apple and that will work with just about any usb audio receiver that has its own power supply and some that don't, but have only minimal current draw; but these do not work with the iPhone or iPod.
so yes i'm afraid if those are your options then its a waste of your time and a road already much travelled by people thinking it could be easy. the music industry needs to know that the digital stream will not be exposed, so there are licensing schemes embedded in the hardware. there are a couple of ready made devices you can buy, but nothing diy Last edited by qusp; 13th November 2011 at 02:05 AM. |
