Default Line 6 ToneCore DSP Developer Kit

Has anyone tried this Line 6 pedal + Freescale tool chain?

Line 6 - ToneCore DSP Developer Kit - Custom Effects Pedal Creation

This seems like a dream come true if you want to do some custom modelling. You don't have to mess with hardware at all. But just from googling around I don't see much buzz about it. Is it underpowered? Are the Freescale tools good? Presumably I can just write some code, compile it with the Freescale compiler (or with the runtime lib for the chip) and download it into the right place in memory like you might with the TI tool chain?
