Hi !
I'm going to buy this famous cd player in second hand . What do you think about it ? My system kit : Naim Nap 20 , Nac282 + Supercap2 and Kudos c10 for the speakers . I have sold my lovely Cd5x . Do you think it's a good upgrade ? Many thanks in advance. |

6moons audio reviews: Metronome Technologie CD3 Signature
Quote:
Does the Metronom have the necessary DSP power for a correct SRC? I don't see any big DSP chip in that picture, I think it is using a regular off-the shelf SRC? Last edited by SoNic_real_one; 22nd October 2011 at 02:01 AM. |

If you want an advice : long time ago, in my Idiophile times, I bought the first Metronome Technologie CD player. So sexy, so expensive too. A machine full of secrets. The open gate to a new world of music. I even went in Toulouse.
One year after, once the warranty expired, I have been opening the box...surprise, It's the PCB and all the PSU, display, mechanic, of the very popular Philips CD 751. Morality, 15 times more expensive for an aluminium thick front plate. Actually they use their own multiple PSU, and some variations in the DAc or output stages, but the global philosophy is likely the same, (as for many esoteric brands), selling a look, an image, with an industrial content. Up to you if you like. |

So , it's stupid to buy this Cd player ? Do you think it's the same thing if I stay with the same brand of my all components : Naim , or not ?

I will not say that it's stupid... depends first of the second hand price, and also of how long it has been running. It's also a beautiful object that can be bought in a collector perspective (inside it's BTW much better than in my old ancestor).
But, the fact remains that any laptop with a decent USB sound card will do as well. Look also what the Chinese do for 200 euros. |
