hdmi amplifier for home theater?

didnt know where to put it so mods please move to the right forum if needed.

my friend gave me his ikea tv stand that looks great in the room.

but i ran into a small problem of fitting my receiver on the shelf. its a bit too tall.
so i thought its a good time to upgrade to a more compact receiver but dont know what to look for.

heres what i have.
42" lcd tv
pair of monitor audio bronze BR5 speakers
onkyo tx-ds494 ( measured 5-7/8" high (150mm) so i need something no more than 5 1/4
and a small HTPC with hdmi output.
i will replace my dvd player with external blue ray drive soon
trying to keep the acessories to minimum u kno.

what i want.
a 2 channel amp with a remote
and an HDMI input or 3 would be ideal.
i dont care about radio or 7.1 or 73.1 audio
or any other coax and analog connections.

just 2 speaker outputs and some digital inputs. usb would be cool too if it can act as a DAC on its own when hooked up to HTPC.

but i dont know if what im asking even exists.

receiver in my tv stand with bottom tabs(legs) removed.


the legs are about 1/2 inch tall. and im assuming are made to meet the minimum space required for the amp to breathe.

if i place the receiver even in the middle i would have about 1/4 inch space on top and bottom and not sure if it would be enoough for it. i dont want it to burn the tv stand/ house from overheating.





some speaker porn lol i know they not the 10 000 pair of speakers but i think they are well made and look nice.

Marantz do slimline AV amp's for the UK market in the slim 2 channel case. They are 7.1 but of course you can ignore the additional channels.

I think you are highly unlikely to find a 2 channel slim amp that isn't also a 2.1 bluray receiver. At least the Marantz will fit physically.
The problem is all the compatibility needs and expensive licensing for "HD" formats like DTS HDMA, Dolby Tru HD and now 3d format and 4k resolution for future TV's, hard to justify buying into this technology for small number of sales.

Quite a few options about that are integrated amp's that are slim with digital inputs but not hdmi. Like Cyrus 8XPD

anyone here know where i can get one killer deal on those??

ive checked ebay and craigslist and they are about same price as i can get at best buy.

i like the nr1602 but cheapest i found is 560 on ebay.id go for a used one if anyone knows one for sale?
