Sony Scd777ES TOC reading problem.

Hello ,
Could somebody give me an advice why during the
TOC reading the cd does not rotate, but if I push by hand
Disc starts to rotate and pick up the info. Since the total
Time is recognized, cd is working fine with no problem wit tracking
and playing

Usually this problem in the SCD-777ES is a symptom of a binding gear in the sled motor drive train or a failing laser. How does it perform reading SACD Tocs? The lasers are separate, noting also that the lasers are fixed and the spindle motor is mounted on the sled.. The spindle motor may be wearing out, but also check the connections to the motor for oxidization . I own one of these players and also have a number of friends who own one or more of these players. I've worked on a number of them. Mine is pretty reliable, but doesn't get much use.

Thanks for replay. All gears are in very good condition.
I would rather think about lost signal which allow to spin
The spindle motor during the TOC reading.

Service manual is widely available on line, and last time I checked Sony was still stocking replacement spindle motors, lasers, gears and a few other parts for this player..
