...or even better LL1690 Amorphous-core. But in this case i would rather look for the XCEN, since that removes the transformer from the signal path.

I prefer to use a transformer and remove the common 0v connection and get near complete isolation but I can see the attraction of the XCEN. Has anyone compared them subjectively?

Fair call. Actually I don't want to give the impression I'm looking for a cheaper competing product to the Salas units (I'm not) so my query may be best as a separate post in the Power Supplies section.

I'm now keen to buy a SEN v18 kit, and try using DAC+ and A_GROUND of the ES9018 into one half of each SEN board, as unbalanced outputs.
But a question please; it's possible in the ES9018 software-control to invert the phase of the DAC- outputs, and then use these in parallel with the DAC+ outputs.

So instead of having 4 DAC outputs into each input of the SEN, I would have 8 DAC outputs. I understand this will result in twice the current from the DAC, and half the output impedance.

Is such a configuration compatible with the SEN v18?
Thanks.

As already mentioned in the article, it is recommended to use a bias at least 4x of the current swing.
So if you double the output current, you should also increase the bias accordingly, e.g. by doubling the number of devices.

The question then becomes is it feasible to use 8x 2SK369V for a single channel on the existing SEN board?

Could I, for example, populate the extra 4x 2SK369V's into the ready-made positions on the unused half of the SEN board, then jumper the relevant points back to the first half of the board?

Also, do these two separate quad groups need to be thermally coupled?

You can solder one group on the top of the PCB, and another group on the bottom.
Then place the PCB vertically for heat dissipation for both groups.
This I prefer to you proposal.

But you probably want to use a special PCB with thicker copper.
Or hand wire them yourself P2P with 0.8mm silver plated copper wire.

For thermal tracking, couple between each quad-set groups will be fine.
No need to couple one group to the other.

Sorry for the late reply.

Gogowatch has urgent private matters to handle, and is temporary out of action.
Not sure right now how long. Please be patient.
Thank you for your understanding.
