I Have a Sony Stereo...every now and then i get a "No Disc" Error from it....but in the last few weeks every single Disc i put into it returns a "No Disc" Error,and the Disc's i put in are known good Discs that are clean and scratch free,i even disassembled the unit to clean the lense...which wasn't even dirty...any ideas guys?

How old is it? It could be mechanical wear of the platten bearings or possibly old/failing electrolytic capacitors causing problems.

What's the model number out of interest ?
Do you know the pickup type number ? Usually KSSxxx although at only a year old... Does the lens perform a "focus search" routine immediately after the drawer is closed. The lens should move up and down approx 3 times.

That's unfortunate, any chance the manufactuers' warranty is still good? If not it might be worth trying to contact the place you purchased it and see if they will work with you, I'd try that before attempting to fix it on your own.

I should have added that a failure in a device that new and unused is most likely a manufacturing defect, so it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect the seller or manufacturer to try to make it right.

The Model Number if the Stereo is the Now Discontinued MHC-EC98Pi.
an even bigger issue now is there's no output from the amps as some relay clicks closed immediately when the unit is powered on. |
