Meridian 508.24 Laser Swap Out - Tech Assist Please

Hi All

My 508.24 is on its last legs, skipping, pops, fizzes etc.

Unfortunately there was no hardened grease / gunk to clean from the laser assembly - no easy fix

I'm fairly happy the laser is the problem. As I understand, the complete CDM12.5 is no longer available but that the laser head can be detached from the sled and replaced with a VAM1250. Is this right ?

Any other fixes I may not have considered ?

Can't answer your question directly but the only CDM12.5 I seem to remember seeing looked identical to a CDM12.4 which has the RF amp on board.

Maybe if you posted detailed pics of the pickup.

That looks to have a hall effect spindle motor, otherwise seems like a CDM12.4
