I'm buying a few this week and i will need some help with the implementation.

Implementation is very straight forward, that's one of the key benefits of this chip. That and low power with single supply voltage.

I will also need a spdif/toslink reciver. And it will be the first dac ever for me.

The schematic is open source. The pcb layout is proprietary.

I will try to use it as a reference only. If the pcb file was available the situation would be diffrent.

I would be keen on a dac board with ess9023 dac chip. it would accept i2s input too? do you guys know the differences (subjectively and/or specs wise) between the 9023 and 9022? Or how it compares to the WM8741 dac chip (ie. twisted pear opus) ?

any idea on pricing for one?

Hi,

I started updating this pcb to incorporate a 50Mhz XO for the 9022, but due to real life, I'm unable to go any further at the moment.

I only made 5 pcb's originally, and apart from a small mistake on the spdif traffo, they are all working fine, with a nice sound. I'll update when I have a bit more time.
